Walker Named President/CEO of Alara, Inc.
Fremont,
CA, January 25, 2005 - Alara, Incorporated, a manufacturer
of medical, dental and non-destructive testing filmless x-ray imaging
systems, announces the appointment of James M. Walker as President
and Chief Executive officer. Mr. Walker replaces Charles W. Cantoni
who has retired from the company. Mr. Walker, previously Chairman
of the Board of Directors of Alara, has been associated with the
company for the past ten years. “We’re very pleased
to have someone with Jim’s experience and knowledge about
the company at the helm,” said Henry Gauthier, newly elected
Chairman of the Board of Alara.
Mr. Walker joined the company in 1994 as a director and was elected
Chairman of the Board in 1995. Prior to assuming this new position,
Jim Walker was Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer
of AlphaSmart, Inc. (NASDAQ:ALSM) and before that was Senior Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer of Diamond Multimedia Systems,
Inc. Mr. Walker received a BA degree in Mathematics from San Jose
State University and an MBA degree from Santa Clara University.
